FAMILY SESSIONS IN SUMMER

Taking your family photos, especially with very young children, might seem a bit challenging at first. Sunset is late at night these days (like 21:30!), the heat can be uncomfortable and possibly you're one of my sweet military families who's getting ready to PCS and life is just crazy in general... Sounds familiar? No need to worry, I got you! With the right preparation, your session will be a super relaxing experience, I promise!

Here my top 5 tips to make your family sessions as smooth as possible:

1. Adjust nap time if possible. You might want that perfect golden light for your photo session, which is why most photographers prefer shooting just before sunset. In that case, start a few days before your session and push bedtime a bit further out to avoid cranky kids.

2. Make sure everyone had food before the session. I can't stress this enough, don't make your kids wait on dinner until ater the session!

3. Suncreen, bugspray and water are necessaties you should bring to your session - I will have some on location at all times as well!

4. Choose your location wisely: Ask your photographer for a location with more shade (the spot here in the photos provided shade even at 18:00 already), avoid spots with lots of mosquitos. In the end, a more comfortable setting will be more important for the outcome than some specific background.

5. Wardrobe - choose something lightweight that won't restrict movement and is breathable. Linen works perfect! My favorite in summer time: ditch shoes and go barefoot for that extra carefree vibe
